Last nights protest rally sent a very firm, and powerful message to the state government, and that message was to sit up and listen because we are not prepared to accept what you are offering, so come back with a better plan!. In a display of total unity by the residents of Earlwood, and the surrounding suburbs the message was loud and clear "Stop The Stack".

The rally got underway at about 7pm when around 400-500 cyclists from the group "Critical Mass" joined a few hundred residents by cycling into "Gough Whitlam Park", to show their support for our rally. When the cyclists arrived the roadway was blocked off and as a mark of support the cyclists all held up their bicycles in the air. The cyclists and protesters blocked the road as Speakers informed the Residents , and motorists with information about the Smoke Stack, and what its lethal consequences will be if it is built.

After about 5-10 minutes the protesters cleared the road and the traffic once again started to flow. The motorists that did get held back by the protest didtnt seem to mind at all, and if anything, when allowed to continue the motorists were very vocal in their support for our rally, and not critical of it.

The protesters were chanting "Stop The Stack", to passing traffic who inturn honked their horns as a show of support. Alot of motorists slowed right down to take leaflets that were being distributed by the protesters and were very understanding and supportive of our concerns.

The rally was very peaceful, and the Police were completely co-operative and gave the protesters their full support as they assisted with traffice and crowd control.

The residents and protesters lighted up the park, and roadway with their energy and passion, as Men, Woman, and Children chanted as one voice, and it was clear that the message is getting through because people are now realising that we together as one can stop this stack from being constructed, and we will not give up until a solution is found .

It must be meantioned that R.A.P.S would like to thank all the cyclists from "Critical Mass", who gave their time and support to our rally, and who certainly made it a very successful event.
